₱500-M MALUGUD Road Dike Project in Magalang
FLAGSHIP PROJECT. Mayor Malu Paras-Lacson announces that construction of the ₱500-million MALUGUD Gateway Corridor has begun.

MAGALANG, Pampanga – Mayor Malu Paras-Lacson announced last week that construction of the MALUGUD Gateway Corridor (Magalang Road Dike Project) has started, paving the way for business growth and providing greater convenience to the commuting public.
Lacson said the dike project is “a landmark infrastructure project that forms part of her vision to transform Magalang into a future-ready municipality through improved connectivity, flood protection, and sustainable development.”
She disclosed that the project is expected to be completed by 2027. She also thanked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region III, Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and Congressman Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. for their valuable support for her flagship project. The project is being implemented by the regional DPWH office.
“It’s not just meant to protect us from floods but also to provide improved connectivity for the commuting public,” Lacson said in an interview at her office.
“It will also boost the local economy because businesses will be established along the dike road. We will support our constituents in generating income by encouraging them to put up businesses there, particularly food outlets,” she added.
The road dike project will serve as both a flood-control structure and a vital transport link connecting Barangays La Paz, Sto. Niño, San Nicolas 2, San Agustin, and Bucanan.
“Travel to the town proper from Barangay Ayala and nearby villages will be easier once the project is completed,” Lacson said.
She added that the road dike project “is a way of attracting more investors to the town.”
“We are very friendly to investors and businesses,” she said.
