ARAYAT, Pampanga – Mayor Jeffrey Luriz disclosed last week that more than 500 new businesses have opened in the municipality, reflecting the local government’s commitment to making the town business-friendly for investors and traders.
Luriz said that nearly 2,000 businesses have renewed their business permits this year.
“We are very business-friendly. You can easily secure a permit to operate a business as long as you have all the necessary documents and your business is legal,” Luriz said in an interview at his office.
“I have made it a point to eliminate red tape in our local government since I assumed office last year,” added the first-term mayor.
Luriz said the municipal government has also improved road infrastructure to make travel more convenient for residents and businesses.
“This is one way of attracting more investors,” he added.
However, Luriz admitted that “we still have to do more to ensure that other roads in the town proper and in the barangays are properly constructed.”
Luriz also said that he and the local police have worked together to further improve peace and order in the municipality.
“Arayat is generally peaceful and orderly, and there have been no untoward incidents,” he added.
