CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The long wait is over for the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region III office and its staff.

They will finally have their own office, courtesy of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the city government.

For decades, DOT-III has been renting and spending about ₱170,000 monthly.

TIEZA, a government-owned and controlled corporation and the infrastructure and investment arm of the DOT, has allotted ₱45,392,085 for the project, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. The city donated a 200-square-meter property for the project.

TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the DOT Region III office in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, on Tuesday.

Lapid said the two-storey building in Barangay Calulut will permanently house the Central Luzon regional office of the DOT.

“And finally, magkakaroon na ng sariling bahay ang DOT Region III. That’s the most important thing, and of course, as a Kapampangan, I’m very proud of it kasi nandito siya sa atin, in the City of San Fernando,” Lapid said in his message during the groundbreaking ceremony.

Lapid also expressed his gratitude to the City Government of San Fernando for providing the parcel of land where the DOT Region III office will be built.

Lapid was joined by DOT Region III Director Richard Daenos, City Councilor Reggie David, City Administrator Kristannico David, and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan during the groundbreaking ceremony.

The DOT Central Luzon office is one of three regional offices of the DOT being financed by TIEZA. The other regional offices currently under construction are Region 12 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, and Region 5 in Legazpi City, Albay.
