BACOLOR, Pampanga – Vice Mayor Ron Earvin Dungca of this town has once again assisted some 600 tricycle drivers amid the rising cost of fuel.

Dungca, son of former three-time Bacolor Mayor Buddy Dungca, recently renewed the insurance coverage of tricycle drivers from 17 TODAs in the town.

He has been providing insurance to tricycle drivers since 2023, shortly after assuming his post as vice mayor. The funds for the insurance come from his own pocket.

“We have been providing free insurance for four years, and as you know, the Vice Mayor’s Office has no funds for it. We use our own funds,” said Dungca, president of the Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines–Pampanga Chapter.

“Tricycle drivers face challenges daily, and we make sure they receive assistance if they meet an accident,” he added.

The same insurance also provides assistance to the families of drivers in case something tragic happens to them.

Bacolor Vice Mayor Ron Dungca with Councilors Jude Datu, Renz Canlas, Carlax Laxa, Aiza Cunanan, Emily Valerio, and SteekieBlanco; Liga ng mga Barangay President Allan Soliman; and Barangay Captains Jojo Del Rosario, Bobby Vidal, Bryan Rodriguez, Lito Sicat, and Noli Pineda at the distribution of rice and renewal of insurance coverage for some 600 tricycle drivers.

During the same event held at the covered court of San Vicente, Dungca distributed five kilos of rice to each of the 600 insurance
beneficiaries. He was accompanied by Councilors Jude Datu, Renz Canlas, Carlax Laxa, Aiza Cunanan, Emily Valerio, and Steekie Blanco; Liga ng mga Barangay President Allan Soliman; and Barangay Captains Jojo Del Rosario, Bobby Vidal, Bryan Rodriguez, Lito Sicat, and Noli Pineda.

In interviews, the tricycle drivers expressed their appreciation for Dungca’s initiative.

“The insurance is a big help to us,” they said in the local dialect.

They also thanked Dungca for the rice, “especially now that prices of
goods are increasing.”
