Arroyo, Pineda lead ‘Zumba for Juanas’ in Clark
CLARK FREEPORT – A wellness and fitness activity to celebrate Women’s Month here was led by no other than former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Pampanga Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda – both Kapampangans who have made their own marks in society.
Dubbed as “Zumba for Juanas”, this activity organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) gathered 3,000 participants in a Zumba activity held at the Clark Parade Grounds in this Freeport.
The event was also attended by CDC President and CEO Manuel R Gaerlan, DOLE Undersecretary Renato Ebarle, and DOLE Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio.
Participants coming from the workforce of CDC, Clark locators and other government agencies operating inside the Freeport also participated in the activity.
In a brief message, Vice Gov. Pineda said that this event helps in empowering the women sector in the labor force and at the same time, it raises awareness on the importance of encouraging them to participate in activities that will improve their work-life balance.
“Pinlano ito para sa mga kababaihan na nagtatrabaho. Kailangan mawala ang stress lalo na ngayong pandemic. Kaya para tayo ay sumaya, magzumba tayo para makalimutan natin ang epekto ng pandemic,” Pineda added.
Meanwhile, President Gaerlan shared that this activity is among the first to be hosted by the Freeport that marks the continuous recovery and return to normalcy within the zone, and its adjacent communities. In addition, he also encouraged the participants to continue improving their physical health, while at the same time, being conscious in protecting themselves against the continuing danger of the Covid-19 virus.
“Ang lakas ng ating ekonomiya ay mula sa lakas ng mga manggagawa. Kaya ang pinakamagandang panlaban sa virus o pandemya ay ang malakas na pangangatawan. Sana ang mga ganitong aktibidad ay magpatuloy para malabanan natin ang anumang sakit o virus,” he said.
