COA lauds CDC’s GAD compliance

CLARK FREEPORT – The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has been cited by the Commission on Audit (COA) for fulfilling Gender and Development (GAD) objectives, programs and initiatives.

At the same time, the CDC management was commended for allotting substantial funds for various GAD activities for year 2021.

“We commend the (CDC) Management for allocating funds for GAD-related activities in pursuit of its mandate towards the attainment of the GAD objectives,” the COA said during an Exit Conference held recently.

COA further cited that the “CDC earmarked P308.60 million for its GAD-related activities, representing 6.20% of the total revised budget of the year, which made the corporation compliant with threshold prescribed under Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta for Women (MCW).”

Under Chapter 6 of RA 9710, the GAD budgets of government agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs) should be at least five percent (5%) of their total budget appropriations.

Having fully addressed all the previous years’ audit observations on GAD compliance in accordance to the guidelines prescribed by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and COA is also considered a remarkable feat for the state-owned firm.

The CDC management headed by its President and CEO PBGen. Manuel R. Gaerlan also thanked COA for the citation.

“The management thanks COA for its commendation of CDC’s performance, which was the result of focused efforts of the entire organization with the GAD Focal Point System as Office of Primary Responsibility to mainstream and attribute projects and activities and ensure gender responsiveness,” the CDC said in a statement.

The state-run corporation also vowed to maintain their accomplishments and to continuously create programs that promote gender equality and development.
