Porac launches COVID-19 vax for kids

PORAC, Pampanga – The local government here launched its pediatric vaccination program on March 1 at the Jose Songco Lapid Cultural Sports and Civic Center.

To make kids ages 5 to 11 years old feel comfortable, local government officials led by Porac Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil had the venue decorated with balloons, cartoon characters, and popular celebrity standees.

Mayor Capil, along with Councilor and Vice Mayor bet Francis “Budoy” Tamayo, gave away treats like popcorns, cotton candies, and chocolates to vaccinated kids.

The kids also received balloons and free face painting from the members of the Porac Young Artists Group.


Also present during the pediatric vaccination launch were Bayung Porac councilor bets councilor reelectionist Michelle Bengco; Barangay Palat Captain Bong Buan; Barangay Manibaug Paralaya Captain Adrian “Papay” Carreon; Barangay Pio and Model Community Captain Ayot Dimalanta; Barangay Pias Captain Noel Manalo; Engineer Joy David; Sheryl Bulanadi; and former Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Jovy Venzon.

Also present was Mutya Ning Porac Stephanie Genel Escaler.

The vaccination team was led by Municipal Health Office Officer-in-Charge Dr. Edgar Cornelio Dizon Lacanlale and Dr. Neil Galang San Andres, Municipal Tourism Office led by Officer-in-Charge Gem Marimla, Mayor’s Office Staff led by Capil’s Private Secretary Robert Canlas, Rural Health Unit Staff, Barangay Health Workers and Porac barangay officials.

Mayor Capil thanked the vaccination team for their efforts in successfully launching the “Resbakuna Kids” program of the Department of Health in Porac.

Capil also thanked Poraqueño parents who showed support to the vaccination of their children.

“Importante po ang pagbabakuna sa ating mga anak para makapabalik po sila sa face-to-face classes sa eskwela at para ma-achieve po natin ang herd immunity dito sa ating bayan,” Capil said.

The Municipal Health Office will continuously vaccinate Poraqueño children and adults until the town achieves herd immunity.
