452 kids below 12 y/o get vaccinated in Angeles City

ANGELES CITY — This city government’s vaccination drive for kids aged 5 to 11 years old kicked off on February 21, 2022, with 452 children receiving their shots against Covid-19.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. personally greeted parents and kids at the vaccination site, with City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles.

Parents who attended the vaccination with their kids expressed joy and gratitude to the city, citing the carnival theme the venue at the City College of Angeles.

The preparation was supervised by the Office of Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with Chief Adviser IC Calaguas.

“Alam niyo naman po ang mga bata kapag na-i-inject, very afraid po sila. The idea of the LGU for the carnival theme is maalis ang fear nila, at magpabakuna po sila,” Guevarra explained.

Guevarra also said that there are on-site pediatricians who volunteered to assist the city during the kids’ vaccination.

She furthered that the city government is strictly abiding by the guidelines set by the Department of Health, identifying Pfizer as the allotted vaccines for the kids.

“The National Vaccination Operation Center will ensure the supply of the vaccines,” Guevarra said.

After vaccination, the kids and their parents took home loot bags composed of vitamins, paracetamol, candies, coloring book, among other fun stuff.

The vaccination for the kids under the age group will last three months, according to Dr. Guevarra.

Cabiles said that the schedule of the vaccination per barangay will be via schedule.

“Posted po ang schedule ng pagbabakuna ng mga bata sa facebook page ng City Information Office,” Cabiles added.

To date, 357,662 Angeleños are fully vaccinated; 336,181 received first dose; and 58,167 for their booster shots.
