TARLAC CITY – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Task Force for Infrastructure Development (AFPTFID) inspected the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) projects situated within the area of responsibility of Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM).

TIKAS is a convergence program of Department of National Defense (DND) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“We will ensure the proper implementation of these projects, as these developments compliments the AFP Modernization Program that will usher us, the military, towards a more efficient and professional service to the country,” AFPTFID Commander and 44th Chief Engineer Major General Gerardo Catindoy said.

Catindoy checked ongoing TIKAS projects in Tactical Operations Group 3, Military Intelligence Group 3, AFP Reserve Command and 522 Engineer Construction Battalion.

The Chief Engineer is also set to visit ongoing TIKAS projects in Wallace Air Station in La Union, and the 548 Engineer Construction Battalion in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

For his part, NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. noted that the projects will aid soldiers in carrying out their duties efficiently and effectively.

“The TIKAS program makes a huge difference toward recognizing our soldiers’ sacrifice and uplifting their morale. With new facilities and improvements in our camps, our soldiers will now be more equipped and capacitated in the performance of their mandated tasks as defenders of the north, and protectors of the people,” he stressed.

Torres likewise commended the support of DND and DPWH in building a stronger military force through improved facilities.

Under the TIKAS program, 37 out 187 projects programmed for NOLCOM from 2019-2022 are now underway, while 63 projects are about to commence. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
