COMELEC implements health safety measures for 2022 polls
BATAAN – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will implement health safety measures for the 2022 National and Local Elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking in behalf of COMELEC Bataan, Mariveles Election Officer Melanio Sibayan said protocols to be implemented on May 9, Election Day, include compulsory checking of temperature prior to entry at the voting center.
“Individuals who will record a 37.5°C and higher and will show Covid-19 like symptoms will be asked to cast their votes in the designated isolation area located at the same voting center,” he said.
“We are not belittling the threat of Covid-19, but rest assured that the minimum public health standards will still be strictly imposed,” Sibayan emphasized.
Physical distancing will strictly be implemented inside voting precincts with the maximum allowable number of voters depending on the size of the classroom.
Voting hours has also been extended from 6 am to 7 pm.
