DICT donates laptops for City College of Angeles scholars
ANGELES CITY – The Department of Information and Communication has donated laptops to the city government here, for the use of some 500 scholars of the City College of Angeles.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said this is to continue to uplift the quality of education in the city.
He thanked the DICT for the laptops that will be used by the scholars taking up the course Information and Technology.
The laptops, under the property of the CCA, shall be returned by the end of the school year.
“Alam naman po natin ang adjustment sa mode ng pag-aaral ngayong pandemya. Kaya naman ginagawan po natin ng paraan upang mapagpatuloy ng ating mga iskolar ang kanilang pag-aaral, lalo na yung mga nasa ganitong klase ng kurso na walang sapat na kagamitan. Thank you DICT,” Lazatin explained.
“Mayroon naman din pong free WiFi na maaaring magamit ng ating mga students,” he added.
Mayor Lazatin, together with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and CCA President Dr. Frankie Villanueva, on January 26, 2022 inspected the laptops delivered to the Mayor’s Office.
The distribution of the laptops will follow suit.
Aside from the laptops, the city has already distributed 63,200 tablets for the use of public school teachers, Grades 4 to 12 students and CCA scholars for their online classes amid the pandemic.
Internet cards were also provided for free WiFi access.
A total of 700 satellite units were installed city-wide for the free WiFi connection, alongside the distribution of internet learning cards to the teachers and students for better internet access.
To date, the CCA has 16 courses available with 3,200 enrolled scholars.
