Angeles City to expand columbarium
ANGELES CITY – A new columbarium will soon rise at the Angeles City Public Cemetery in Barangay Sapalibutad here, with an allocated budget of ₱10 million, while the existing facility will undergo renovation, costing around ₱2.5 million.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said with the repair of the existing columbarium, more Angelenos can be accommodated.
Philip Samson, Angeles City Public Cemetery Officer, said that the existing columbarium only has 400 units. Each unit can house up to 3 urns.
According to Samson, the renovation and additional construction is just practical, especially now that most prefer cremation.
“Mas nakakamura po kasi sila kapag sa cremation,” Samson said. Samson said the city is also offering a discount for Angeleño residents for the cremation process and the use of the columbarium.
“Kailangan lang po ng valid document na nagpapatunay na residente ng siyudad, gayundin po sa mga caskets na ipinapamigay,” Samson shared.
To recall, the city is now offering free caskets for indigent Angeleño residents.
