NLEX gears up for holidays

NLEX Corporation, committed to keeping traffic flowing smoothly so motorists can get to their destinations quickly, safely, and comfortably, is ready to implement additional traffic management measures with the expected increase in traffic volume this coming Christmas and New Year holidays.

NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista said that from December 20, 2021 to January 3, 2022, the tollway company will beef up its operations along the NLEX-SCTEX as part of its “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program.

It will field 1,200 patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and toll lane personnel to assist motorists and ensure efficient traffic flow, Bautista said.

Traffic management teams will closely monitor Balintawak, Mindanao, Karuhatan, Bocaue, San Simon, San Fernando, Tarlac, and Tipo as high volume of vehicles is anticipated in these areas. Emergency medical services and incident response teams will be prepositioned at strategic areas for immediate deployment.

During the said period, construction and lane closures along the mainline road of the NLEX-SCTEX will also be suspended unless safety repairs are necessary.

From 6 a.m. of December 24 to 6 a.m. of December 27 and from 6 a.m. of January 1 to 6 a.m. of January 3, free towing to the nearest exit will be available to those traveling with Class 1 or light vehicles.

The tollway management is once again encouraging motorists to use RFID for faster and safer transaction. Those who have no RFID sticker may have it installed for free in any of the Easytrip installation sites and just have to pay the initial load.

Existing RFID users are advised to ensure that they have enough load, while those having concerns should have their sticker checked at the nearest Easytrip station. For the complete list of installation sites and reloading options, motorists may visit the Easytrip website: www.easytrip.ph.

NLEX is also reminding motorists paying in cash to always take the rightmost lanes at the toll plazas and observe courtesy by not skipping the line.

For everyone’s safety, motorists are being prompted to observe sufficient braking distance as well as other traffic rules and regulations.  Speed and lane management teams will be on heightened alert to enforce traffic discipline.

Traffic advisories will be relayed to motorists via regular updates on NLEX Corporation’s social media accounts. For inquiries or other concerns, motorists may also call the NLEX-SCTEX hotline at 1-35000.
