RIC members of Camiling participate in product development consultation

CAMILING, TARLAC – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac, through the Negosyo Center Camiling, facilitated a seminar on product development with one-on-one consultation for 25 women-entrepreneur members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) of Camiling.

The activity is a two-part seminar that aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants in developing market-ready products and to provide personalized guidance to help them improve their existing offerings.

OIC Provincial Director Florencia Balilo highlighted the importance of customer-focused innovation. “Product development with one-on-one consultation is an effective way to meet customer needs. It ensures the product meets the expectations of both the business and end users, based on direct feedback and survey results,” she said.

For the first part, Business Counselor Val Maenar Echevarri of Negosyo Center Pura discussed the product development fundamentals, including product design and innovation, branding and packaging, market trends and consumer preferences, and food and product safety standards.

It was followed by one-on-one consultations with the designers from the Local Designers Program, a DTI-Tarlac and Provincial Government of Tarlac partnership.

The consultations provided opportunities for these micro-entrepreneurs to directly engage with the designers, allowing them to discuss ideas and receive expert advice on packaging and label design tailored to their products.

One of the participants, Maylen Siborboro, President of the RIC of Camiling, extended her heartfelt thanks to DTI for the opportunity. She expressed appreciation for how valuable the activity was in supporting their business growth and product development.

“Maraming Salamat DTI Tarlac, kay Ma’am Mikka Aquino para sa opportunity na ito na magkaroon ng ganitong seminar at consultations. Hindi po talaga dapat i-miss ang mga ganitong pagkakataon,” she said.

This initiative forms part of DTI’s continuous commitment to empower local entrepreneurs and improve the competitiveness of homegrown products. The Negosyo Center Camiling plans to implement several support initiatives for the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) members, including assistance in securing FDA and DTI certifications, inclusion in local and regional trade fairs, business registration and formalization assistance.
