Crime rate in Pampanga down by 24.76%

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Crime rate in Pampanga dropped by 24.76 percent from February to April 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Based on the report of Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO)  Director PCol Jay Dimaandal, from 2,024 incidents reported from February to April 2025, the number went down to 1,523 in the same period this year.

“In terms of index crimes, we have recorded a decrease of 76 cases or 42.46 percent from 179 cases.  Meanwhile, non-index crimes went up to 632 cases from 470, equivalent to a 34.47 percent increase. We mainly attribute this increase to strict law enforcement and enhanced case reporting and response systems,” Dimaandal explained.

On the statistics per crime, PPO said there has been a notable decrease on all eight focus crimes.

Homicide cases dropped significantly from 25 in 2024 to five cases in 2025 while murder decreased from 13 to four cases. Rape cases went down from 27 to 12; theft from 17 to 12 cases; robbery from 61 to 47 cases.

Cases of physical injury also slightly decreased from 16 to 15; while carnapping of motor vehicles and motorcycles went down by one and 10 cases, respectively.

“Consequently, because of this decrease in crime incidents, our crime clearance efficiency improved to 100 percent in 2025 from 99.44 percent last year, while crime solution efficiency also rose from 76.53 to 78.64 percent,” the police chief said.

Dimaandal added that on the campaign against illegal drugs, Pampanga police carried out 292 operations resulting in the arrest of 441 suspects. Authorities confiscated over 3,600 grams of shabu and 175 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of over P24.9 million.

Police also intensified operations against illegal gambling, loose firearms, and wanted persons. A total of 15 operations led to the arrest of 69 individuals involved in illegal gambling.

Meanwhile, 169 firearms were recovered and 300 wanted persons were captured including those on the national, regional, provincial, and municipal level.

As of April 2025, Dimaandal added that a total of 462 barangays in Pampanga were already cleared from any form of illegal drug-related activities based on the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

“These accomplishments are attributed to the effectiveness of PPO’s anti-criminality campaign through the implementation of relentless police operations, as well as the employment of the whole of government approach in addressing our problems in illegal drugs and other forms of criminality,” Dimaandal said.

However, despite this, he assured that Pampanga PPO will remain steadfast in its commitment to the Provincial Peace and Order Council in realizing its vision of making Pampanga a peaceful, drug-free and insurgent-free region.
