DTI Tarlac conducts Nito Vine handicraft training in Mayantoc
TARLAC CITY — About 45 residents of Barangay Labney and members of the Abelling tribe in Mayantoc, Tarlac completed the skills training on Nito Vine handicraft making.
It was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Negosyo Center Mayantoc.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said new skills were introduced to the participants to help them turn available resources into a source of income.
“With the abundance of Nito Vines in the area, the Negosyo Center initiated this training to add value to the vines and provide a sustainable source of income for the residents,” she furthered.
Labney is famous for its diverse terrain, which includes plains, rolling hills, and wooded areas that are home to Nito Vines.
They are perfect for crafting due to their flexibility and durability.
One of the participants, Khyla Martin expressed her gratitude for being part of the activity.
“We are grateful for the program that the DTI came up with. This will be a big help to us who are in need of a source of income,” she said.
DTI, through its Negosyo Centers, promotes sustainable livelihood to communities by maximizing their local resources, and developing their potential through various skills training activities.
