AC Council lauds KFI; remembers Apung Tarzan’s legacy in AC 

ANGELES CITY — The Sangguniang Panlungsod has passed a resolution congratulating the Kuliat Foundation Inc. (KFI) during its 25th founding anniversary for overseeing operations of ‘Museo Ning Angeles’ which was created by then Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.

Resolution No. 11225, S-2024 was sponsored by Councilors Jay S. Sangil, Arvin M. Suller, Joan Crystal DJ. Aguas, Danilo D. Lacson, Marino D. Banola and Alexander P. Indiongco. 

Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting and the city councilors have unanimously approved the resolution commending FKI for its relentless efforts in ensuring the museum continues to serve as a valuable resource for both locals and tourists. 

The resolution stated that “in 1998, with the impending move of the Angeles City Hall from Barangay Sto. Rosario to Barangay Pulung Maragul, then City Mayor Carmelo F. Lazatin envisioned the establishment of the city’s very own museum in the old Angeles City Hall building, to be known as the “Museo ning Angeles.”

The late Mayor “Apung Tarzan” Lazatin has inaugurated the Museo ning Angeles on December 8, 1999. Apung Tarzan has also signed the Usufruct Agreement with the KFI “pledging that the city will provide funding assistance for the museum from the proceeds of the “Tigtigan Terakan King Dalan” festival which is being held annually at the expanse of the McArthur Highway in the Balibago business district. 

For “25 years since its inauguration, the Museo ning Angeles, located right at the center of the Angeles City Heritage District, remains one of the most important cultural landmarks of the city that reflects the city’s history and development through the years,” the resolution said. 

“We seek to recognize the significant contributions of the Kuliat Foundation Inc. in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Angeles City,” Vice Mayor Vega-Cabigting said. 

Sangguniang Panlungsod members who are present during the approval also expressed their gratitude to the KFI for its dedication to the museum’s operation.  

The Angeles City Government thru Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has been supporting FKI with an annual P1 million aid every year for the upkeep and activities of the Museo Ning Angeles.
