VIEWS AND NEWS: Talipapa inspection

Officials of the City Meat Inspection Division headed by Edwin Sicat, Business Permit and Licensing Division led by Evangeline Malonzo,  and Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary headed by Michael Lising on February 17, 2023 inspected the talipapa in Barangays Sapalibutad, Cutud, Tabun and Pulung Cacutud to ensure that all meat being sold in the city are slaughtered and handled in the city’s double AA slaughterhouse.

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. ordered the inspection to ensure that all meat being sold in the city were handled properly and safe for human consumption.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas explained that the city government’s double AA slaughterhouse adheres to the standards of RA 9296 or the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines and RA 8485 or The Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

Ang sinisiguro lang po ni Mayor Lazatin ay ligtas ang kinakain nating karne. It is safe for human consumption. Para iwas po sa sakit,” Calaguas said.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who supervises the CMID operations, also added that the city slaughterhouse is humane and uses electric stunner before slaughtering animals.

“This has never been practiced in the city. Ngayon pa lamang po sa panahon ni Mayor Pogi Lazatin,” Manuel said.
