Annual check-up for city hall workers starts

ANGELES CITY — The first-ever Annual Physical Examination for the 4,330 employees of the city hall started today, Nov. 7, 2022, receiving positive feedback.

“This is yet another first for the city hall employees. It has always been one of AGENDA’s aims to ensure the health and wellness of every employee and Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has made it possible,” Flordeliza Santos, president of the Association of Government Employees for a New Dynamic Angeles City (AGENDA) said.

According to Santos, this is a very important day for the employees, proving that it is the priority of the Lazatin administration to ensure that the employees are being taken cared of.

This was also the sentiment of Angelo Cabalonga, an enforcer in the Angeles City Traffic Development Office for 6 years, citing the convenience of the free medical services.

Among the offered health services via the mobile clinic standby at the City Hall are blood pressure check-up, chest X-ray, urinalysis, electrocardiogram test, and blood test.

Rosana Bulaon, who is already 20 years in the service, said she is one of the employees who is very happy receiving the check-up.

“Ngeni pamu milyari na ating makanyan keng kilub ning 20 years. Midinan kaming libreng check-up,” Bulaon added.

“The best, ngeni pa na ating makanyan,” Helen Alimurong of Mayor’s Office also said.

For her part, Kathleen Gozum, staff from Business Permit and Licensing Division, mentioned that the free annual physical examination via the mobile clinic is a proactive approach to check on the health status of the employees.

“Salamat po sa effort dahil inilapit na mismo ni Mayor sa amin yung program,” said Gozum, who is also serving her 21st year in the City Hall.

Executive Assistant V Raffy Angeles who is also in queue for his turn to be examined, underscored that “heath is wealth” for Mayor Lazatin.

“No matter where you are in life, if you invest zero in health, all is just nothing.

Danilo Catacutan, 13 years in the service as traffic enforcer, further said that upon hearing about the physical examination, he immediately submitted his name and requirements, especially for him who is a diabetic.

The AGENDA also expressed its gratitude to the Lazatin administration, including Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, for always looking after the health and welfare of the employees.

This, according to Santos, will also motivate the employees to work hard in serving their fellow Angeleños because they are assured that they are also being cared for.

The City Health Office workers led by Dr. Verona Guevarra are leading the employee’s overall examination.

The schedule of the examination for the 13 elected officials in the city; 1,217 permanent, casual, and contractual personnel; and 3,100 Contract of Service employees will be until Nov. 24, 2022.
