Lazatin distributes P3-K, supplies to bedridden elderly

ANGELES CITY – Some 485 registered bedridden senior citizens in the 33 barangays are set to receive P3,000 financial assistance, five kilos of rice and Vitamin C supplements from the city government under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. via house-to-house distribution starting today, October 17, 2022.

Mayor Lazatin said this is to continue prioritizing the needs of the elderly under the new normal setting.

“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kalusugan at kapakanan ng ating mga senior citizens. Simula po noong 2019 ginagawa na po natin ito, tayo po ang bumibisita mismo sa bawat bahay upang ihatid ang mga tulong sa pamamagitan ng mga programa natin para sa kanila,” Mayor Lazatin said.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who recently presided the meeting over the distribution of the assistance, with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, said it started in the barangays with the largest population such as Cutud (9); Pulung Cacutud (15); and Sapalibutad (13).

Apart from the assistance, bedridden elderly will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests that will be provided by the City Health Office, led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, headed by Rodolfo Simeon.

To recall, Torres also said this initiative to deliver the house-to-house assistance started only during Lazatin’s stint.

The welfare of the elderly has been a priority of Mayor Lazatin, administering free vaccines against flu and pneumonia even before the pandemic, with a total of 7,811 senior citizens availing the Anti-Flu and Anti-Pneumonia vaccination.

Last February 2022, 40,159 registered senior citizens in the 33 barangays received P1,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements from the city government.
