MNA 2022 to showcase best of barangays through Parade of Beautés

ANGELES CITY — The first-ever local costume parade under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. will soon showcase the best of barangays through the creative costumes of Mutya Ning Angeles candidates on Oct. 15, 4 PM at SM City Clark Event Centre.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, one of the Chairpersons of the MNA working committee, echoed this, saying the event dubbed as “Parade of Beautés” will  highlight the identity of the city and  Angeleños including its best offerings, significant happenings, culture and history, and livelihood particularly in the respective barangays of the candidates.

“Ito po ang naging inspiration ng unang-unang beses na costume parade na mangyayari sa administration ni Mayor Lazatin. Just like the Kambal Festival we held, this will bring happiness and excitement to our kababayans,” Calaguas said.

According to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, also one of the leading heads of the committee, the Parade of Beautés with a theme “The Best in the Barangays” speaks not only about what barangays have to offer but to reflect the hard work and creativity of the Angeleños.

“We will witness the beauty of these ladies and that of our City, with the costumes made by the creative hands of the local designers,” Manuel shared.

Poklong Guina, one of members of the committee, also said that the Parade of Beautés also aims to promote the tourism of the city, which was affected by the pandemic.

Guina mentioned that while this aims to revive tourism, this is also a promise to show festivity through beauty, culture and entertainment.

The identity of the city and Angeleños will also be seen in the parade, Guina said, such as the virtues of “sipag, tiyaga, tatag, talino at galing” which can be seen with each costume— the “Tatak ng Angeleño.”

Meanwhile, City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui explained that for the materials to be used in the local costume, the committee encourages the designers to use indigenous, recyclable materials and natural fabrics.

The city government also thanked SM City Clark for being a partner in the first-ever local costume parade.

The winner in the said parade will  also receive ₱100,000 from The Clouds Bar and The Grounds.
