DTI confiscates defective weighing scales in Capas
TARLAC CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac confiscated defective weighing scales from the Capas Public Market.
This is in partnership with Capas Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) and Tarlac Consumers Council Inc.
During a saturation drive, two out of the 147 analog and digital weighing scales inspected were found to be defective, and were turned over to the Office of the Market Administrator.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo explained that this is to ensure the practice of accurate weight measurement among market vendors.
“This is one of the initiatives of the agency being conducted in partnership with the municipal government through LPCC and the consumer organization and part of our advocacy to promote consumer welfare and protection,” Balilo said.
DTI, Capas LPCC and Tarlac Consumers Council Inc. likewise provided a briefing on the Laws on Weights and Measures to the 115 stores monitored prior to the saturation drive.
The activity aims to give consumers their money’s worth in purchasing products.
