City’s OTOP Store to sell products made by PDLs

ANGELES CITY – Products made by persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP) in the city will now be displayed and sold at the city-run One Town One Product (OTOP) Store.

The OTOP store will feature and sell products manufactured by PDL, including purses, wallets, sling bags, and bonsai wire trees.

OTOP is the first business in the area to collaborate with the local county jail to market its products.

“Matagal nang gumagawa ng mga beaded bags ang mga inmates at ngayong taon naisipan namin na gumawa din ng bonsai wire tree kung saan pwede i-display ng mga bibili,” Jail Senior Inspector Warden Cecilia M. Tamayo explained.

“Sa pamamagitan ng pagbebenta namin, nagkakaroon ng income and mga inmates at nagagamit ang mga kinikita namin sa mga activities na ginagawa namin sa loob” she added.

In order to provide additional funding for the female dormitories at the Angeles City district jail, the city’s BJMP has partnered with OTOP.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. intends to boost and broaden the city’s promotion of its homegrown goods.

One of Lazatin, Jr.’s top priorities is the OTOP shop, which is operated by the Angeles City Government through the supervision of Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and is intended to assist MSMEs in overcoming the changes brought by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, IC Calaguas Chief Adviser and Tactician of Mayor Lazatin, encourages Angelenos to support this initiative by visiting our OTOP stores and buying local products.

The products will be available at the OTOP Store main branch located at Nepomuceno St., Heritage District, Sto. Rosario (at the back of Museo ning Angeles) and the OTOP Store’s 100 days to Happiness booth located at the Atrium, SM City Clark.
