Pogi Lazatin proclaimed as Angeles City Mayor anew

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has been proclaimed for a second term as City Mayor by the City Board of Canvassers at the Sanggunniang Panlungsod Session Hall on May 10, 2022.

Lazatin won by a landslide in all 33 barangays of the city, posting a record victory with 112,947 votes over his opponent’s 47,300. Lazatin garnered 70% of the total votes.

“Buong puso po akong nagpapasalamat sa mga Angeleño at binigyan nyo po ako ulit ng pagkakataon na pagsilbihan kayo,” Lazatin said, “Pinapangako ko po na lalo kong pagbubutihin ang aking pagsisilbi sa lungsod at sa inyo,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin ran on a platform centered on the city’s economic recovery following the pandemic, health and social welfare, and sustainability.

This includes, among other things, the continuation of the Angeleño First Program, which encourages local business and promote the local industry through the continuation and strengthening of the “Gawang Angeleño” Campaign; as well as a more robust One-Town, One-Product (OTOP) Program that will further the reach of the City’s successful OTOP Program and invite more Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to partner with the OTOP Store in promoting their products.

The City Government shall also start providing alternative livelihood and trainings to Angeleños displaced from their jobs due to the pandemic, such as free-range chicken raising, crab farms, and hydroponics, and continuation of the program for home-based tailors and seamstresses producing our own PPEs and masks.

Lazatin is also planning the establishment of the Kanlungan ng Kabataan, a haven for street children where they will be cared for, educated, and reintegrated into society; as well as the modernization of the city’s 28 sub health centers and 6 rural health units, to be converted into 24-hour birthing stations.

Lazatin will also continue the Angeles City Watershed Reforestation Program to ensure a sustainable water source for future generations of Angeleños.

Joining Lazatin during his proclamation are his daughters, Atty. Kercee Lazatin and Keece Lazatin.

Also present are newly proclaimed Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and City Councilors Arvin Suller, JC Aguas, Dan Lacson, Joseph Alfie Bonifacio, Marino Bañola, Jay Sangil, Raco Del Rosario, Alexander Indiongco, Edu Pamintuan, and Chris Cortez.
