SM City Telabastagan promotes responsible plastic waste disposal
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Plastic Credit Exchange’s (PCX) Plastic Waste Collection Program, through SM Cares, has kicked off in Barangay Telabastagan in this city.
Located in SM City Telabastagan and SM City Pampanga, nearby communities can now responsibly dispose of their plastic wastes.
Just recently, residents of the barangay, led by barangay clerk Martel Cruz, participated in the program.
The program aims to divert plastic waste from landfills and bodies of water by collecting them straight from households for co-processing, upcycling, or recycling.
To date, SM and PCX have collected more than 13,271 kilograms of plastic waste from the participating SM Malls, similar to diverting 21,442 kilograms of CO2, equivalent to 355 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
Over the years, SM Malls have served as collection points for almost all types of plastic and Styrofoam waste.
The Plastic Waste Collection Program is sponsored by Nestle Philippines and supported by Watsons, Procter & Gamble, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers Philippines.
