Angeles City cited anew for anti-corruption integrity

ANGELES CITY – This city has been recognized anew for its anti-corruption integrity.

The United Nations (UN) International Anti-Corruption Day Organizing Committee in South Korea has again awarded the Angeles City Government with the Integrity Achievement Award.

Representatives from South Korea visited Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. at the Angeles City Hall on Feb. 22 to personally deliver the plaque for the award, which was conferred to the City last December 9, 2020.

This is the second year that the City Government of Angeles has been awarded for its anti-corruption programs.

On October 21, 2019, the City Government also received an award for Anti-Corruption Integrity from the same committee.

Under Lazatin, the City Government of Angeles has bagged multiple awards and citations, among which is 5th Most Improved Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) in the Competitiveness Index for year 2021 by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and as Top 6 city nationwide in terms of collection efficiency of locally-sourced revenues by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).

The city is also among the 23 HUCs in the country cited by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to first achieve “herd immunity” against COVID-19.

The DILG has also lauded the City Government for two consecutive years, in 2020 and 2021, for having Anti-Drug Programs with “High Functionality”. The citation plaques were received by the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC).

In August 2021, Angeles City received the Prime HRM Bronze Award from the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Lazatin is currently serving his first term as Mayor of Angeles City. He is running for a second term in the 2022 Elections with incumbent City Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta “Vicky” Vega-Cabigting.

Joining Lazatin in receiving the plaque from the South Korean representatives is incumbent Pampanga First District Representative, Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, who is currently running for a third term.
