PWDs, solo parents, seniors, kids get cash aid from city government

ANGELES CITY – Some 261 indigent PWDs, 606 solo parents, 7,438 seniors, and 640 children were recipients of cash aid and vitamins from the city government, personally delivered by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

Lazatin helped deliver the P1,000 cash aid each to registered PWDS from Barangays Lourdes Sur East with 86 beneficiaries; Claro M. Recto (70); Virgen Delos Remedios (59); Agapito Del Rosario (26); and Lourdes Sur (20).

Meanwhile, 606 solo parents from 13 of the city’s barangays also received P1,000 cash assistance each.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel earlier discussed the distribution with the appointed focal person for solo parents’ affairs, Rebecca Peñaranda.

According to Peñaranda, the house-to-house distribution is now easier since the database for the solo parents’ community in the city’s 33 barangays has been updated and organized.

Lazatin Jr. also led the house-to-house distribution of P1,000 cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements to some 7,438 registered senior citizens from Barangays Amsic with 920 seniors; Pampang with 1,932; Malabanias (2,138); and Cutcut (2,448).

The Mayor said 40,159 registered seniors from the city’s 33 barangays will all be given cash aid and two months’ supply of Vitamin C.

And true to his mission of promoting kids’ welfare, Mayor Lazatin also led the distribution of Vitamin C supplements to 640 kids, aged 0 to 24 months, in Barangays Sapalibutad (140); Cutud (250); and Pulung Cacutud (250).

The distribution of assistance to the remaining PWDs, senior citizens, solo parents and kids will be scheduled, according to Lazatin.

“Tayo na po mismo ang pumupunta bara-barangay para ihatid ang kanilang financial assistance. Bukod po sa nais natin ay komportable sila, pinaprayoridad din po natin ang safety nila laban sa virus,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin was assisted by the Persons with Disabilities Office headed by Alma Vital, Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles, City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Edna Duaso; and staff of the City Nutrition Office headed by Donatila Guanzon.

Meanwhile, the teams formed to distribute the assistance are being supervised by Calaguas and Manuel.
