ANGELES CITY – A total of 4,000 registered indigent Persons with Disabilities in the 33 barangays here will receive P1,000 cash assistance on February 7, 2022 via house-to-house distribution.

This after Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. allotted a ₱4-million budget for the assistance of the said PWDs.

Teams will be formed from the Persons with Disabilities Office headed by Alma Vital, with the support of the Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles, to deliver the ₱1,000 cash aid at the doorsteps of the PWD-beneficiaries.

The teams will be supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

The welfare of the PWDs has always been one of the city’s top priorities, Mayor Lazatin said.

To recall, the city government also distributed ₱1,000 cash aid to 2,361 indigent PWDs and 139 bedridden PWDs on October 2021 and August 2021, respectively.

Amid the lockdown, P5 million was allotted for the distribution of P1,000 cash assistance to 5,000 registered PWDs.

Aside from the regular cash assistance, Mayor Lazatin has been promoting PWD-friendly premises in the City Hall by putting up necessary structures like an elevator and ramps.

Mayor Lazatin also instructed the City Engineering Office and the Business Permit and Licensing Division to conduct an inspection on the accessibility of establishments for PWDs.

To remind them that they are part of the community and will never be left behind, inset and sign language were included in the city government’s official news broadcasts.
