Angeles City to vaccinate kids 5-11 years old starting Feb

ANGELES CITY – The city government is gearing up for the vaccination of children ages 5 to 11 years old starting this February.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. shared that the city, with its logistics, manpower, and resources, is now ready to inoculate this target population.

“Handa po ang siyudad sa pagsisimula ng bakuna para sa mga batang may edad lima hanggang labing-isang taon,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas explained that the city will provide all the needs for the children’s vaccination to ensure their health and welfare, with the help of Reina Manuel, Executive Assistant IV who is the head of the vaccination committee on ways and means.

Calaguas is also the chief implementer of the city’s vaccination program.

In addition, Manuel said the city has already purchased all the ancillary supplies needed for the vaccination of the target population.

While waiting for the guidelines set by the Department of Health for the inoculation of the children, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra is now in coordination with volunteer-pediatricians who are set to be deployed at the mega vaccination sites, once the children’s inoculation has started.

To recall, 64 pediatricians volunteered to assist the city government during the inoculation of minors in November 2021.

The city government’s booster shots drive for Angeleños is still ongoing via the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay, and is still open for residents who are not yet vaccinated with the first dose.

To date, 353,229 Angeleños are fully vaccinated; 315,462 received first dose; and 18,316 for their booster shots.
