Angeles City, employees send relief goods to ‘Odette’ victims in Visayas

ANGELES CITY — The city government here, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., on December 22, 2021 turned over relief packs to members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines – Philippine Air Force (AFP-PAF) for the families severely affected by Super Typhoon “Odette” in the Visayas Region. 

Dubbed as “Saup Angeleños para kareng Bisayanon”, among the donations from the city are ₱220,000 worth of canned goods, ₱40,000 for diapers, ₱200,000 for bottles of drinking water, ₱40,000 for packs of sanitary napkins, and ₱20,000 pieces for soap and toothpaste.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin allocated P500,000 from the city’s calamity fund for the procurement of the said assistance. 

Apart from this, Mayor Lazatin also donated P50,000 from his salary for additional canned goods, while Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel gave a personal financial donation of P25,000.

Calaguas and Manuel coordinated with the AFP-PAF for the transportation of the said goods, as part of the Angeles City Government’s relief operation in Visayas.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso also mentioned the donations from City Hall employees including the 15 cavans of rice from CSWDO; 160 hygiene kits from Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; 10 cavans of rice from the Office of City Vice Mayor; 15 cavans of rice from City Engineer’s Office; eight cavans of rice from City Health Office; three boxes of bottled water, two boxes of noodles and 100 pieces of canned goods from Business Permit and Licensing Division and General Services Office; and cash donation from City Planning and Development Officer Ami Victoria Dacanay and Mignette Henson.

She also thanked Angeleños, private sectors and organizations, and even residents from Mabalacat City, and Magalang town who dropped off their donations.

Present during the turn over of relief goods are Calaguas, Manuel, Duaso, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon and Information Communication and Technology Division Chief Michael Lising.
