New ONA building to rise in AC – ‘A dream come true’ for Lazatins

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on November 10, 2021 led the groundbreaking ceremony and laying of time capsule for the soon-to-rise hospital building at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center. He is with Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Vice Mayor Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, RLMMC Chief Dr. Froilan Canlas and Development Bank of the Philippines Executive Vice President Jose Gabino Dimayuga.

ANGELES CITY — A dream come true – that is how Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. described the soon-to-rise 4-storey building of the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center, formerly Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA), located in Barangay Pampang here.

Lazatin led the groundbreaking ceremony today (Nov. 10) for the construction of the hospital, which is set to bring more health services to Angeleños and nearby communities.

This hospital will have P100 million worth of state-of-the art medical equipment, according to the mayor, reiterating that the hospital is a dream come true for him and for his father, the late Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.

“Sa araw na ito po, matutupad na ang aking matagal ng pangarap at pangarap din ng aming ama, Mayor Tarzan Lazatin, na makapagpagawa ng mas malaki at mas makabagong ospital para sa mga Angeleños,” Mayor Lazatin said.

Apart from this, the city government is also acquiring additional dialysis machines to address the needs of Angeleños, especially those in the marginalized sector.

Lazatin said that together with his brother, Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, they will continue to uplift health services for Angeleños.

Mayor Lazatin also shared that in the face of the pandemic, the RLMMC has extended its services not only to residents but also to the nearby towns and cities who are battling COVID-19.

As soon as Mayor Lazatin took office, he revitalized all six Rural Health Units and 28 sub-health centers for free medicines. The Puso Center three-in-one clinic was also established to give free health services for animal bite treatment, minor surgeries, and dental care.

Even as Councilor, he has been delivering medicines door-to-door to senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities.

Amid the pandemic, the Angeles City Government is one of the Local Government Units in the country which launched blended scheme vaccination programs — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay — both delivering vaccine services right at the doorsteps of Angeleños.

Along with the mayor during the groundbreaking are Cong. Lazatin, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, RLMMC Chief Dr. Froilan Canlas and Development Bank of the Philippines Executive Vice President Jose Gabino Dimayuga.
