DPWH begins construction of sports facilities in San Luis

BALER, Aurora – Construction of some P23.76 million worth of sports facilities in Barangay Bacong in San Luis, Aurora is set to begin soon, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Included in the project is the construction of a covered court measuring 1,761 square meters designed to be a venue for indoor sports such as volleyball, badminton and sepak takraw, an outdoor tennis court measuring 195.63 square meters and four comfort rooms.

According to DPWH District Engineer Roderick Andal, modern sports facilities are important for the training and development of Aurora-based athletes, as well as for the promotion of active and healthy lifestyle by providing San Luis residents with amenities that are accessible and safe to use.

“We recognize the importance of strengthening the potential of our youth in sports by constructing facilities that will definitely help improve their skills. We also believe that these sports facilities, when completed, will boost the spirit of our aspiring athletes and many more people will be attracted to play sports,” he said.

The facilities are expected to be completed by June 2022.
