VP Leni’s Vaccine Express helps inoculate frontline personnel in CSF
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo launched on Friday her Vaccine Express program at the Laus Convention Center in this city where 1,647 Fernandinos received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines. In partnership with the Local Government Unit, the Vaccine Express served as an additional vaccination site in the city which inoculated the A4 category or the frontline personnel in essential sectors. Under the partnership, the LGU provided the Covid-19 vaccines, while Robredo’s camp provided 162 manpower to facilitate the vaccination. Dr. Iris Muñoz, National Immunization Program (NIP) Manager, said the OVP’s vaccination drive was a needed boost to the LGU’s vaccination rollout. “San Fernando is very thankful to the Vice President and to her camp dahil itong 162 manpower ng Vaccine Express ay sobrang laking tulong sa atin since nagkukulang tayo ngayon sa medical staff kasi nga yung iba tinatamaan ng virus and nagku-quarantine pa. We are happy na sumakto talaga yung dating ng Vaccine Express. Mas napabilis at marami tayong nabakunahang Fernandinos dahil dito,” Muñoz remarked. As of September 16, 2021, the total vaccinated individuals in the city reached 132,092 or 54.6 percent of the eligible population. Around 34.3 percent of this total are fully vaccinated. The Vaccine Express will return to the capital city on October 15, 2021 to facilitate the second dose of Covid-19 vaccines for the same people. Meanwhile, Acting City Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin welcomed and thanked Robredo and her team at Heroes Hall. They were joined by Panlilio, City Councilor Redentor Halili and other members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and local government officials. The Vaccine Express started in June when Robredo and the city government of Manila launched a drive-thru vaccination for tricycle and pedicab drivers. Now, the OVP is going to different LGUs to bring Vaccine Express in their localities and help them ramp up their vaccination rollout.
