AC execs raise personal funds to give computers to schools
ANGELES CITY — Clark International Airport Corporation Vice President for Operations IC Calaguas and Angeles City Government Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel have distributed computer units to four public schools, using the funds they raised to assist the city’s 53 public schools for the ongoing Brigada Eskwela. Manuel, in her own Facebook account, has been selling personal items, unused and good as new, to earn funds for the said initiative. Among the schools that received their own computer units today, Sept. 16, are Northville 15 Integrated School, Epza Resettlement Elementary School, Gov. Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School in Balibago, and Sitio Pader Elementary School in Pulung Maragul.
To date, more than P67,000 has been raised from selling brand new limited edition perfumes and a latest smartphone. Aside from this, Manuel and Calaguas — both Ambassadors of Beautéderm Corp. led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche Tan — will include their two-month talent fees as Ambassadors to the donations. “Sa pagbubukas po muli ng klase, higit na nangangailangan ng tulong ang ating mga paaralan sa kanilang patuloy na pag-aadjust sa blended learning sa gitna ng kinakaharap na pandemya,” Calaguas said.
This personal initiative, Manuel added, will complement the educational assistance of the city government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., to extend a helping hand to the students and teachers of the 53 public schools in their learning amid the pandemic. To recall, the city government has assisted the city’s 53 public schools and City College of Angeles by distributing 63,200 tablets for the use of public school teachers, Grades 4 to 12 students and city scholars in their online classes. With this are internet learning cards for better internet access to the free WiFi in the city.“Nais po naming makatulong sa pagsulong ng edukasyon ngayong pandemya kahit sa maliit lamang po na paraan,” Manuel furthered. “Kaisa po kami ni Mayor Lazatin sa hangarin na walang kabataang Angeleños ang maiiwan pagdating sa edukasyon, walang kabataan ang maaantala sa pagtanggap ng edukasyon ngayong nasa ilalim tayo ng new normal setting,” Calaguas said.
The two local executives had also donated six units of copiers and some school supplies including bond papers, ink, and pencils for the benefit of students and teachers in six selected schools in Angeles City and Magalang town, also using some of their talent fees from Beautéderm. “Let us continue imparting a little ray of sunshine that this pandemic will be over soon. Magtulungan po tayo sa pangangalaga ng kinabukasan ng ating mga anak,” Manuel urges.
